Clear top coat advice

Postby celeste boy » Thu Aug 10, 2023 9:33 pm

Im restoring a child's bike, 20in 'Buffy' and have rubbed it back etc.
I was wondering if, after painting it, I could put on a few stickers and then a clear top coat.
Is there a relatively cheap top coat in a can than someone can recommend?Doesnt need to be too flash but would like the stickers to be protected.
Cheers

Pretty sureyou can get some rattle-can clear from Bunnings or similar. Failing that, hobby shops will have stuff to do the trick. I did similar with some bits for a bike I built up recently; the factory clear coat was a semi-matt/satin finish, but the frame & other bits are gloss. I picked up a rattle can of UV-blocking gloss clear from a local hobby shop to respray the satin bits, came up a charm! Only about $15 or so, so not expensive.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
