In the process of switching my Orbea Gain from 105 11 speed to Chorus 12 and have hit a dead end.
The 105 front derailleur has a cable stop built into the side of it.
The frame has no cable stop in it at all.
The 12 speed Chorus front derailleur does not have a cable stop on the derailleur body...............
Completely baffled - never come across this before - any clues?

Is the frame internal or external cables?
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Second question... Full-length or segmented outer cable?
If full length, you're best off contacting your local Orbea dealer to see if there are alternate upper-frame cable grommets with an integrated housing stop available that will work for every front derailleur that isn't in the small family of Shimano models that have a built-in stop...
If it's segmented housing, there will only be a short piece of outer fron the bottom bracket cable guide to the derailleur. Simply omit this lower piece of housing and run the bare cable through the guide.

Thanks Duck.
It's a fully sheathed length of cable so I'll attempt to contact Orbea AU and see if there is a solution for this.

The short answer is likely to be no - Campagnolo mechanical front derailleurs require a cable stop. It looks like the Orbea uses FSA's internal cable routing system, which does not utilise any cable stops on the frame.
The longer answer is that you'll need a cable stop somewhere on the frame. There's some discussion here on Weight Weenies around someone asking a similar question with a Cervelo Soloist (similar issue):
https://weightweenies.starbike.com/foru ... &start=105
Basically the solution is to get a 3D printed cable stop that can go somewhere near the bottom bracket shell.
Additionally, it might be worth seeing if a Shimano front derailleur will work if you have one lying around. 2nd-gen 11 speed models have a cable stop inbuilt so they can handle full internal housing routing.

Cheers for the information here.2wheels_mond wrote: Additionally, it might be worth seeing if a Shimano front derailleur will work if you have one lying around. 2nd-gen 11 speed models have a cable stop inbuilt so they can handle full internal housing routing.
I've tried the OEM 11sp 105 derailleur which has the same cable stop on the derailleur body - the Chorus shifter pull ratio won't play with the Shimano f/d.
I've checked out Orbea's 'Blue Paper' has a poor quality exploded image of the Gain frame and part # 13 is a cable stop - allbeit in a location I'd never think to look for one but I'll investigate with a torch tomorrow.
