And finished...more or less. Probably going to need a different front changer as the Sun-Race I used doesn't have the swing to quite get to the outer ring of the triple - works OK on the inside two rings tho'.


Basically, I used up surplus parts from the shed so it is a bit of a mixture.
Shimano hub/Alex rim wheels, 12-26t 9 speed cluster
Shimano Tiagra 9 speed brifters
Tektro twin pivot brakes
Peel 44cm bars on a generic stem using a quill converter.
FSA 42/32/24 triple BB30 crankset using an FSA converter b'bracket set to fit it to the normal bottom bracket in the frame.
Ultegra mid-arm rear derailleur
SunRace front derailleur
- only cos it is the only one I own with a 34.9 clamp - not a success. Braze on clamp coming so I can fit a Claris triple changer.
Ritchy seat post and saddle.

Rides and handles well over the bumpy roads out here. Given this model has alloy stays it is less forgiving over the bumps than the Merida and Giant models that have carbon stays. Though, I think new tyres are a 'must have' RSN. Currently using 23c and the clearances are quite close - looks like the biggest that can be fitted will be 25c?

Here is my 2300, which I strongly suspect is exactly the same frame construction as the 2100







I purchased it as a frame, forks, headset and stem only, a few years ago and have built it up into a very functional road bike.
Mine must have been at the very beginning of the era of the threadless steerer.
Of course it’s a 1 inch steerer, and aluminium forks.
I think it rides and handles very nicely.
I actually prefer it to my much newer Lance-era Trek OCLV carbon frame/ forks.

It seems to smooth out the harsh road surfaces better than the newer Trek - which has straight blade carbon forks.
Oh and I make no apologies for the lack of bar tape on the (cut off) handlebar ends - I never use the drops !

I have mine set so I can sit in the drops for ages if needed.

EDIT: stumbled upon some images of a Look KG191, derailleur hanger looks the same as is the top tube brake cable routing and seat clamp area. Any thoughts?

Mystery solved!

Anything less than a Mavic Zap groupset would be a compromise.

Well I've gone half baked with a rebuild, not Mavic zap but 8 speed 105 out of a spares box. Yet to put bar tape on, Cinelli bars and stem and worked out that the 'DP' hubs are actually Sachs New Success. I'll upload more pics when finished. I do wish this bike was 3 inches bigger

Thankyou! I was unsure if it was user error, but I'm limited to a phone and tablet for posting pics. With regards to the bike, the frame came out more 'golden' rather than a 'lemon' yellow, but it looks surprisingly good compared to when I picked it up, my only plastic/carbon bike.

Retro Look pedals wow. look like they come off the set of the original Star Wars movie.

Nowadays the pedals look slim slim and the derailleurs look bloated
