Saturday, 14th Feb - Forum group ride

Postby Kalgrm » Sat Jan 31, 2009 10:39 pm

Okay, after so many said they'd be interested, here's a proposed ride.

Date: Saturday, 14th February
Place: Meeting under the Narrows Bridge, southern end.
Time: 7.00am for 7.15am departure
Destination: Freo via Cottesloe and returning via Applecross
Pace: that of the slowest rider - it's a social ride, not a race.

Cheers,
Graeme

(Departure time and destination are negotiable)

You'd have to be really brave, stupid or single to go riding that morning

It's all in the marketing:
"No dear, it's fine - I want you to have a good long lie in. And to make sure I don't disturb your sleep, I'm going to leave the house for about 4 hours."
Cheers,
Graeme

G'day

I plan to be there, leaving Freo around 6:15 AM if anyone wants to meet for the ride in.

Yep - the date rules me out :D

Definately next time (I am sure there will be a next time!), however, and hopefully I will have my Yellow Repco built up in time for it.

Damn.

On the midnight to midday shift. So not only do I miss the ride but the new girlfriend is really going to be p***** that I am going to be sleeping most of Valentines day away.

So bad luck either way.

A rough distance is ~53km, although it's better to think of it as two 26km rides, since we stop for quite some time at L2 ... :)

Cheers,
Graeme

I can ride ... my randonneur. That means I can't compete with the competition bicycles :) I think I can maintain a 30+ kph average though if that helps?

What route do you take from the Narrows to Cottesloe, Graeme?

It's just that hill in Mosman park scares my fixie ;)

I'd propose we go via the railway line path, but if others want to hit that hill, we'd have to consider it. Gotta find some way to leave the fixie riders behind! ;)

Cheers,
Graeme

Well.. being the perennial bachelor, I thought I might be immune to the Valentines day embargo/handicap, however you see it... but I realised shortly after posting I had commited already to heading down South with the ute to help some friends move next Saturday/Sunday. Dagnabbit.

I shall have to remain faceless & enigmatic a little while longer.... oh, hang on.. you've met me briefly, Graeme. Rats... there goes the mystique.

G'day Marty,

Welcome to the forum.

We'd like them to be regular events, but we're a bit slack at organising them. Hopefully this one will give us the impetus to continue with more of them. I plan to organise a MTB one pretty soon too.

Cheers,
Graeme
