surface rust on frame - help!

Postby uglybob » Tue Mar 02, 2010 2:35 pm

hi guys,

i've got a chopper at home, that has very light surface rust on the frame. i have cleaned it off once, however it comes back again - i'd rather not have to clean it off each time. can anyone suggest some way i can treat the frame, perhaps with a rust-proofing spray of some sort?

cheers

Wipe it off with c r c or RP7. Use an old credit card to scrape the brown stuff off.

NEVER USE STEEL WOOL!

Then wipe it down with c r c or RP7 a few times a year.

haven't used steel wool, and wouldn't - i used a sponge designed for non-stick pans - worked a treat! :P

c r c sounds like a winner - i'll give it a shot, and see how i go

Lanolin lasts longer then c r c and adds a protective coating. Is a little sticky compared to c r c -- but will keep the rust off for sure.

There is also a product called "Rust off" -- that a lot boaties use to get rust stains off stainless steel on there boats -- you can find it in the Boat shops.
