Fit Gits on Bikes

Postby Aushiker » Wed Nov 14, 2007 12:10 am

or for Birdman ... BikeJournal.com

Okay, ladies, gents and well the others (actually most of the members outside of WA ) , the "rude" folks at Bicycles Network Australia have a little club at BikeJournal.com where the whole purpose is to record your rides (distance plus whatever else is your thing) with the sole aim of riding further and faster than anyone else or more specifically TooLongLegs by the end of, lets say 2008. There might even be a prize if the Christmas spirit is in 2008 and you beat TooLongLegs  or if you prefer to just do your thing and well beat whoever you like or even come last or just join in for the fun of it. Whatever turns your wheel.

So to get involved, sign up at BikeJournal.com, it is free for basic membership which is sufficient for our purposes and make sure you select Bicycles Network Australia as your Club. Also let us know here you have joined so we know it is you! How hard is that? Can't be too hard, Richard has joined.

So hey, join in and have fun with the rest of us and oh you need someway to measure your mileage ... you know a Garmin Edge 305 or a cheap Polar 200cad crappy thing or a bike computer or something .... You get the drift?

Jerseys .... mmm jerseys ... working on that one ...

Yours in fun, eh I mean beating Rey (beating all the boys to death), Kev, Bnej, Richard, David, Anthony, TooLongLegs, needsapush, birdman, Blybo, Hotdog (do bent riders count?) and everyone else in the Club .... 8)

Andrew
Oh, the serious stuff starts in January 2008 (after I get back from hols) ... till then it is fun ....

Yeah well the bikes in the gym do measure distance and "stationary" is a recorded in BikeJournal. Mind you I can't cope with much more than 30 mintues in the gym ... boring as all hell.

Get really sweaty on a stationary bike cause there's no wind drying the sweat off.

These ones have built in fans (got to do it in style) .... measure cadence, speed, caloaries burned, heart rate as well or say they do anyway.

Now if it looked over the swiming pool ...

Pah. You can have your stationary bikes. REAL men travel REAL kilometres. The yanks only added that function to bike journal because they're too woosy to ride in two feet of snow - pathetic really

Richard

am I to understand that we are setting the standard for this thread and that it isn't very high?

You know, when I first saw the title of this thread I thought it was gonna be a place to come and complain... something like 'There I was in my full Team Phonak gear, on my $6000 bike, spinning a perfect cadence of 90 up the biggest hill in the area, after a 45km ride, and this guy on a K-Mart bike and wearing a tracksuit blew past me like I was standing still....' etc etc.

Still, this looks like it could be just as entertaining!

Yeah well you can add bloody hot (sun here has a strong bite to it ) and humid to that snow reason plus Singapore drivers .... that stationary bike is sounding better all the time ...

Mind you I did 20 minutes yesterday on a bike and it said I rode 5 km! Bloody hardest five km I have ridden that is for sure.

Rained all day yesterday but fine this afternoon.

Which means I have do the Megalong Valley ride this afternoon, after four weeks of excuses due to weather.

So will that result in you challenging my ranking? Do I need to get some more km in tonight? :)

Cancelled due to rain & storms. If it clears up before 6 I might get some riding otherwise you're safe.

BTW I think you should chase my climb total as well as distance. ;)

Well you are safe as I am stuck at work for a while yet. So will just have my morning commute for today.

No hills around here so sorry can't help on the climbing :)

Pipped the two of you this morning, and I might have enough gap on Andrew to allow me a days rest. 8)

Hey, what happened to needsapush? He's got an injury icon beside him.

Kev.

Was going to try to get a decent length ride in this morning but stopped after 11.7 km due to heavy fog, was getting a bit dangerous.

STILL got rain forecast through to Sunday, maybe longer. :(
