Have a look at all his other auctions. Most are overly optimistic in pricing.

I guess looking at his sales record there are a lot of fools parted from their money.

I hadn't thought to check :shock: . Under 'about the seller', " This is not your bargain basement ebay store", you don't say?

I had a chuckle at 3 grand for an M900 XTR groupset - but then I did a comparison search and found another seller with 3,200 for a full set! First time I've ever seen anything bicycle related appreciate in value.

*edit*
Scratch that, if I scrolled back through these pages I think I'd find plenty of K-mart and 10 speed bicycles that have 'appreciated' in value :D

Looks ok to me. Don't be put off by racks and safety levers. I've learnt that lesson :? It's got forged ends, down tube shifters and Cinelli bars and stem. Good indicators of a reasonable frame in its day.

Yes there's some nice (albeit just barely visible) detailing around the rear brake bridge and the wrapped seat stay ends look elegant.

If it was local and your size, I reckon it would be worth a punt. Those old logo cinelli bars and the lack of rack/guard mounting screw attachment on the rear dropouts just hint at something worthwhile. Bit hard to tell, but that might also be a campy seatpost, and maybe airlite or similar hubs? Looks like it's been built up with odd pieces that have been lying around.

I'd be taking the spirit level with me on any visit. It may just be the photo, but the the headtube and fork don't seem exactly aligned to my eye.

This would be nice, especially if there's a dropout.

Stumbled across this one when searching for some images with the terms "Malvern Star Fixie"

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/newcastl ... 1017530109#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I laughed at the 100% genuine comment...particularly considering the frame is set up with cable stops and RD mounting, yet is configured (pretty badly by the looks of the chain tension) as a fixie.

Looks like a standard 80's frame, resprayed, decked out in replica MS decals bought off eBay and then configured with whatever the bloke had to hand in terms of bars, stem, grips, levers, etc. Looks like it might even have alloy rims!!

Perhaps the aforementioned 90 year old gentleman has indeed stored it in a house. Afterall, it doesn't say he stored it for any length of time. He might just have stored it for the afternoon, whilst he nipped down to the pub!! ha ha

And thus begins the post fixie era, where us grumbling bastards have to go and put gears back on these things. I propose a 'single speed conversion' thread where we convert the 'mad fixies' back into road bikes. :roll:

But then those we made those fixies dont ever sell them at some low price. I always see no brands and Reids on sale for $200+, when theyre worth that much new.
