Did it again this year. Much nicer weather than last year, plus I was bit better prepared for the last 30km of the ride. Hitting Melville ave with a bit over 100km in the legs is unpleasant, although at least it's briefly unpleasant!

Yes very brief. It caught me off guard. It really is like a wall. But not as tough as it looks. The best time up it on Strava is 9 seconds; about 28km/h. HmmmMattyP wrote:Did it again this year. I was caught off guard in 2015 as I thought we'd be riding all the way up Queens Park Rd like in the WC's. I'm pleased I've done double digit speed up there (once which was Saturday!) for my pb, though a long way to go for me to 9 seconds.DaveQB wrote:Yes very brief. It caught me off guard. Ahhh right, coming down hill. You'd want to hope there's no cars coming out of Melville thoughim_no_pro wrote:Approached it from the high side I bet...DaveQB wrote:The best time up it on Strava is 9 seconds; about 28km/h. Hmmm

Avoid school times and youre a pretty safe bet, oncoming traffic would be the bigger challenge but the single lane bridge helpsDaveQB wrote:Ahhh right, coming down hill. Yep, same with me last year - 34 x 28 managed to drag my 108 up that cliff-face!
I think I may have to get my bum into gear and do this again next year.
Cheers and well done.

Here is my little video of the event, I didn't take any footage finishing though.
