61.6 kg, BMI 20.8, 0.9 kg loss

Waist 75.5 cm, WHtR of 0.439, same

9/8/20:

61.0 kg, BMI 20.6, 0.6 kg loss.

Waist 75.0 cm, WHtR of 0.436, 0.5 cm loss.

New evidence suggests that the lighter the body weight, the better when fighting COVID-19. So I'll push on for a bit more.

Which obviously means you're going to have to make more significant changes to get lighter. But If you're happy at 87, then mission accomplished.

Depending on what Saturday brings, I might have to exit my weight loss mode. I don't want to get my weight into the 50s, but I find changing modes difficult.

Yeah - I'd like to get a bit lighter, but right now I'm in the middle of a compressed (due to COVID) road racing season. Frankly, I'm a bit nervous about a couple of tough races over the next two weekends, and I just want to get through them before I think about changing anything.

Same here.

I was 101kgs/178cms at the start of 2020 and have lost 14kg mostly during the lockdown's here in Melbourne.
I did some keto earlier along with some intermittent fasting and lost around 10kgs quite easily and am now doing OMAD (One Meal A Day) and exercising mostly walking and some light weights but the last 4kgs were slow to lose (Stage 4 exercise limit doesn't help) and I now have been stuck at around 87kgs for the past couple of weeks.

It appears around 87kgs is my body's 'set point' and it is fighting against losing any more weight.
So back to a few months of keto along with some intermittent fasting and I should be able to hit 80kgs.

I'm aiming for around 75kgs by the start of 2021.

As is fairly obvious, set points are just the relationship between one's genetics, one's diet and the activity/exercise one gets. I remember having an apparent set point at about the same BMI as you have now (27.5). There was a time when I thought it was almost impossible to reach your goal BMI (23.7). Until I changed my diet and then went straight passed it. Now I don't believe in set points. My weight wanders up and down depending on what I'm doing with my diet in any particular week.

This shows I tend to overshoot easily. In an effort to stop the reduction I'm now increasing again. I'll try to find somewhere in between. Daily weighing may help too.

I made one mistake this week. So I expect next week to be the same, or a slight reduction if I get it right. The good news is I'm getting better at stabilising.

I am hanging around 73-75 kg at 184cm height. As light as I've been since my late teens.
Doing it with less riding though.
Last time I was this weight I did 17.5k km for the year.

So a BMI of 21.6 for 73 kg.
Yes, it's more about choosing your calorie density to choose your weight. As you probably know, it's 78% diet and 22% exercise for the average person and it looks like your diet is working out for you.

Congratulations.

So a BMI of 23.9. Your WHtR must be looking much better now too.

Yeah - to be honest, I don't measure my waist very often, because it's slightly more inconvenient than just jumping on the bathroom scales. I will do so soon, though.

I think that my waist is about 86/87cm, so a WHtR of about 0.45. Somewhere in that vicinity, anyway.

Congratulations. 0.45 is a good result considering that it's in the middle of the Ashwell OK shape chart.

Not keeping regular stats but now down to 84.5kgs from 101kgs/178cms at the start of 2020.
The remnants of my metabolic belly are still hanging on along with some man b00bs and love handles.
On my way to 75kgs.

Congratulations on so far going from obese to under average AU weight. Why did you choose 75 kg as a goal? The reason I ask is that I see goals often in the mid 23 BMI range and I'm wondering if people are getting that from somewhere in particular, or that's just a number they came up with. The ideal weight calculator comes up with about 21.9 to 22.9 for ideal BMI for me, depending on the formula. While the first post of this thread has a study graph showing the lowest mortality rate for non-smoking men to be about BMI 22 at the mid point.

I've updated the initial post to include a bit on WHtR again. I've also removed the years off the thread title as 2021 is coming around soon. I understand that people often use individual years to mark progress, or lack of. However, the advantage of keeping this thread is that the previous year's posts aren't as hard to find as in an old thread. Also one could argue that weight management should be an ongoing process, rather than something that has an end point.

If anyone has an objection to this, please post.

I think that it's a good idea. I agree with your changes.
