Yeah that's ace. We coached the winner of the two previous year's event so have some insight into the demands. It's a seriously impressive effort.

Germany's Fiona Kolbinger, a 24-year-old cancer researcher, was one of just 40 women in the 265-rider race from Burgas in Bulgaria to Brest in France's north-west region.

The race stretches for more than 4,000 kilometres across Europe, with Kolbinger completing the race in a time of 10 days, two hours and 48 minutes.

The runner-up, Britain's Ben Davies, finished more than 10 hours behind Kolbinger.

Despite this, Kolbinger said she could have "gone harder".

"I could have slept less," she said.
Ultra-endurance athletes are just crazy. The punishment that the body AND the mind must be able to endure is mindblowing.
Such has been her dominance that when she reached the fourth control point in the French market town of French market town of Le Bourg-d'Oisans, Kolbinger treated race volunteers to a rendition of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" on the piano in the lobby of a nearby hotel.

I saw a comment that she was also into the longer Audax events having done the 2017 London-Edinburgh-London and was registered for the Paris-Brest-Paris 1200 on 18-22 August, a cool down recovery ride perhaps, so much for "tapering"
