Riding post surgery

I’m 5 weeks post robotic radical prostatectomy.
There seems to be no clear census as to when I can/should start riding again. Used to riding 50km 3x/week. I’m looking to change my seat to a Specialised Power Mimic one.
I’m in the medical profession and even I can’t seem to get/find a sensible answer.
Any advice gratefully received.

You do not want to be on the bike yet. I have a mate that got on the bike after 4-5wks and it stuffed the healing up. Wait till you're around the 8wk period and then don't over do it, so forget about long klms for a start and do 20klms a ride for the first month and then slowly build from there. Seat needs to be given some thought also, from what he found.

Power saddle is a good idea. I got surgery down there and I got an EC90 (knock off the specialized power saddle but much cheaper -$30 on Geek.com) and it is the most comfortable saddle I ever used. It took a few rides to set up properly, but it is so good that I ordered a second one for my second bike.

Been where you are, Paul. Take it very easy: you'd have to be working regularly on your pelvic floor muscles around now, if I'm not mistaken, and that's a big priority. There's limited fun to be had leaking urine everywhere one goes. But with decent luck and application that will come good in time.
You've recently had your urethra shortened and reattached to your bladder - I don't know how long decent, secure healing of that is supposed to take, but my advice would generally be: if it hurts in the bladder/genital/lower abdomen region then stop. Stop right where you are. Do not mess around with it.
When the time comes, you may find an ISM saddle suits you. Took me a week to get used to. I swear by them, but as I have a range of additional plumbing in the area, I can't ride a conventional saddle at all.
