My mate at the local Giant store got hold of one in a large.



Got a bit of a discount too
All paid.
Just got to work out how to tell my wife what I've done
She did give the ok a couple of weeks back but seemed less enthused of late.
Something about getting the back verandah extension underway
Anyway, away at work from Thursday and back next week.
I'll work on the problem then.

Picked it up today.
Busy day.
Haven't ridden it yet. Still a bit of stuffing around to go.
Seat needs to go forward and come up a touch.
Not too sure about where the levers are placed on the bar or the position of the bar.
Pulled the chain off and degreased it.
Have applied some white lightning wax lube. I'll hit it again tomorrow.
Pinched the garmin mount and varia mount off the S5.
Pedals off the cheapo mtb I have.
Have to adjust the cleats on the spd shoes I have tomorrow.
Will go for a ride and see how my butt fares in the Giant saddle it came with.
Have a fizik saddle on the mtb that may be better.
The bars are also super wide. I will see how I go with them
It has 175mm cranks which I like on my roadies.

Anyway very happy so far.

Well spent an hour this morning sorting the bars and levers, seat height and seat level.
Had to remove the bar tape to move the levers after I rotated the bars back a touch.
My lord that tape is rubbish!
Bits of foam backing stuck all over the bars.
Used a scourer with hot water and detergent. About 20mins a side.
Anyway moved the bars and levers and much happier.
The seat went up about 10mm and rotated forward a touch.
Did the O'Keefe rail trail out to Heathcote and back.
100k.
The bike was pretty comfy. The D'fuse post has a bit of flex as do the bars apparently. I could feel the post more. Not bad.
The bars are 460mm wide. Thought that was going to be rubbish, it's not I think they will work.
The cleats were set a bit wrong. A bit pigeon toed on the right foot.
Found a public tool station on the trail and sorted. Happy with that
This gravel caper is hard work pedal wise. Slower than the road, but fun

Hosed it down and relubed the chain.
Will have to start washing the bike from time to time I reckon.
The roadies I just use aldi baby wipes. Quick and effective enough for me.
They aren't going to cut it on the gravel I don't think though..
Wondering what others do to clean their gravel or mtbs?

Cleaning my MTB - hose off mud, spray some bike cleaner, sponge and hose off. For dust, just hose off and wipe down.

Loads of roadies moving to gravel to avoid vehicle dangers, which I totally understand. I enjoy MTB for a chance to ride in amongst nature, see the odd roo, and get some nice peace and quiet.

What bike cleaner are you talking? I've never used any. I was considering a bucket with carwash or dish washing detergent?

Edit; just watched a couple of vids on the subject. Bucket of suds, sponge, brush, hose.
More than I've bothered with for the roadies before, but not too bad.

I didn't want to brand drop necessarily, but I bought a bottle of Muc-Off cleaner and it's lasted ages. When that runs out I might even hit it with the snow foam cannon I got for the car

Spray and wipe maybe ok if it's just dusty. Otherwise plenty of soap and water to avoid scratches - I use Supercheap car wash. Whether dishwashing detergent should be used is one of those great debates, much like chain lube.

Went to Bunnings today and grabbed some sponges and brushes, plus some car wash and wax that now lives in a bucket near the bikes in the garage.
Gave it a wash after today's ride. Pretty quick and came up well.
More wax lube on the chain and bike back up on the rack.

I tried the Giant saddle. Nup.
Too wide=chafing of the nether regions.
Had a fizik antares sitting there. Much better

Random scrolling on the net and come across this thread. Got the same bike as warthog1 and live in Benders too!

Been a good bike for the 18 months or so that I have had it, just get very little time to ride it with work etc! Weather eventually improving, been too wet this winter, so hoping to get out more from now on.

Last couple rides notice a knock or BB creak. Checked seat post, rotors, pedals, thru axles etc etc and seems to be bottom bracket noise as only happens when sitting/feet in pedals. Was reading before how underneath the BB is a poor design for the cable routing and dirt gets into BB easy. Anyone else notice this? Looks like time for a BB service.
