Giro 2023 !!

Postby MichaelB » Mon May 08, 2023 11:43 am

It’s on and Remco has kicked the first goal (and some of his opponents) a nasty surprise.

Stage 2 was a bit of a procession, but haven’t watched the finish yet.

Looking fwd to some of the hillier stages.

Can’t understand the fuss about the uphill TT. They did the same motorbike support when Cadel raced the Giro without issues, and that was up an unpaved climb !!

Haven't heard the fuss about the uphill TT, I just reckon it looks like an awesome stage.

Some great racing last night and some potentially nasty stacks. Hope all are OK.

With perhaps the biggest throw to the line ever! Dainese was relegated from 4th for his role in Cav's crash.

I am not knowledgeable about sprints but I though Cav was more to blame. From the overhead it appears he was veering right and then attempted to shoulder Dainese and was unbalanced.

That had to be a tough day at the office. Horrible weather and so many crashes

Cavendish was behind Milan with Dainese on his right hand side - yes Cavendish is leaning to the right & a gap is opening up, but Dainese changes his line, cutting between Milan & Cavendish, his back wheel his Cavendish's front who then goes down. At the time of impact Cavendish is still directly behind Milan
.
Anything you can do, I can do slower

Cav definitely veered right after his wheel slipped on the painted line and it apeared he had stopped going for the win. If he had kept to his line (and he had no-one directly in front at this point) it would have been fine. This is not to say Dainese was not also at fault since he changed his line.

I am looking at 3:56 in

Team DSM accepted the call so no doubt about Dainese culpability.

Just unfortunate his instincts took him back in the wheel on a sprint finish

Amazing scenery on today's mountain stage :)

Would have been a good stage to attack Remco, but a head wind dissuaded it apparently.

What was the reason for the British commentary team on last night's stage?
Didn't mind them, just wondering.
Again tonight too.

Ditto. :)
Had the recording from last night on this afternoon and my wife asked where were the British commentators. She liked their humour too.

BUGGER !!

Remix out of Giro after Covid +ve !!! He’s not the only one, Ganna also out

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/remco- ... -positive/

Was looking to a real fight for the win, but will still be interesting !!

Thomas takes over the Pink. Good for TLJ they don’t have to take over Pink responsibilities but makes it interesting for the big stages !!!

Agree a bugger, but think that this will give some of the other teams with a podium chance a firecracker to liven it up a bit and take it to IG.

Can only wait and see !!
