I just realised you have quick release wheels. I can't seem to fit the qr 700 wheel I have in the front forks.

I don't recall having any issues with the front wheel fitting in. I had to cold set the rear end to realign it and at the same time I increased the spacing to 130mm. Do you have the same model repco?

I used to ride up Mt Lofty on my SS which was 46/17. That was until I got a geared bike... Campy is the bomb. Quick changes are so easy.

I still have a Bianchi with Campag groupset, but need a single speed to lose some weight again so I CAN ride up the hills again.

Mine is a Repco Monaco. The spring in the qr axle doesn't seem to fit. I might try again tomorrow. It will save me a bit on a front wheel; I have a spare in the shed.

So, I spent yesterday buying up the bits and pieces I'll need to build the bike. The only thing left to buy are tyres and tubes I think. I've got a pair of deep dish wheels coming so I'll need tubes with long valves.

I'm hoping the colours work with the frame. I'd rather leave the frame as-is.

So what's the deal with these full page emojis? Had never seen them until recently and now they're popping up here frequently. What an annoying waste of space. I want to see bike photos here, not stupid full page emoji faces.

Where are they coming from, when I insert an emoji it looks like this.

Hi All- I have found a Repco TECH Tri 700 Series (in black with purple flecks same as the olympic 14 paint jobs on page 30)- it appears from components stamps to be manfactured in 1993 (EXAGE 300- Biopace). Moves a lot cleaner and quicker than the 83 Superlite commuter I have but seems heavier than 89 Tri A- no stickers to indicate frame material.

So is it:

1) an RT Sport beacuse thats what Repco Tech stands for
2) Is it a Tri A because it has Tri in the name
3) Is it an Olympic 14 because thats what it looks like
4) Some obscure 90's repco I haven't heard about

Internet searches have brought up jack- Can anyone please shed some light on this bike, will post pics when I can figure out how to drive the computer.

Have found a Tech Tri 700 series but seem to be having the same issues as this guy 10 years ago trying to find out specifics about the frame. Appreciate if anyone can shed any more information about this frame.

Hi. Just got given an old Superlite 4130 that a friend had tried to convert into a fixie. It has a box of old parts which is good. No rear cassette. Can anyone recommend one to use. And what size wheels and tyes are recommended?

The answer depends on your plans in rebuilding the bike.

We could rebuild according to what it was 'back in the day', probably with a 6sp cluster and Shimano Exage bits, OR we could restomod the bike with, for example, an 8sp or 9sp drivetrain + dual pivot brakes and a modern alloy wheelset. This requires re-spacing the rear end to 130mm (called cold-setting) to accept the wider hub needed for 8sp and beyond.

Wheels would be any appropriate 700c wheelset that fits into your budget, and a set of 700x25 or 28mm (if clearance allows, should be fine) tyres. If you want to use the parts you've been given, i.e. derailleurs/shifters etc, then you're sorta limited to whatever they can handle. Chances are, as I said above, this was a 6 or maybe 7sp set up. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I've found some helpful videos online but they all seem to be based on more modern groupsets that have a cable tension adjustment. Not sure if that's making the difference or its just me - Probably just me
'Olympia' is running Shimano Exage Action pretty much all round. Anyone have instructions or a recommended video perhaps?

I have a similarly old front mech, and with the chain on the small ring and the down tube lever in its 'relaxed' position, I hold the cable as tight as possible with pliers in one hand and tighten the pinch bolt with the other. This usually works and the gets the front shifting without too much trouble.

I have also read the below, but not tried it:

Put the chain on the big ring, drop the shifter to the small ring (but don't pedal). This will give you some slack in order to adjust the tension.

Thanks! Wasn't my first choice in frame colour but the size is good and after a clean up its certainly grown on me.
Looking forward to getting back into riding into work and maybe the odd weekend coffee run as well
Just have to tinker with this front derailleur some more.

I have a Repco Monaco that I'm going to make a Single Speed. I have 2 questions:

1: I want to buy a new set of cranks. What do I need to search/buy? I'm after a size or dimension that will fit the original bb.

2: 700c or 27"? I'd rather 700c but from what I've read here this bike came with a 27" wheel.

Have not been able to get as comfortable as I would like on the 1988 Repco Eurosport Tria, the Seat to Bars Drop is a bit brutal as you get older & become less flexible.

The 1989 Repco Eurosport Tria Pinkish Pearl White came with the original full Shimano 105, single pivot brakes, SLR Levers, Biopace 52/42, Metallic Dark Green Tinge to all the group components. Pink Cable Outers, no seat, Rims were not original, instead double walled painted green & paint flaking off.

Have rebuilt it with donor Shimano 1055 for the Dual Pivot Brakes, black cable outers, black San Marco SuperCorsa Saddle, re-laced the 105 hubs to donor “Wobler GTX” anodised Double Walled rims, GP4000’s & Michellin Ultralite 65g Tubes. Kept the Repco branded quill stem, not sure about the KUSUKI WIN Winpista Japan Bars with the Deep & Angled Drops yet, (same bars as the 1988 Euro Tria……the 1988 Vertex has Round KUSUKI WIN Winpista Japan Bars & at this stage I prefer those). I have some Nitto B115 42cm round drops bars I can install, will ride it some more before making the decision.

It has taken me a few rides to get my position dialled in…..my seat post is out 200mm to the centre of the rails (The Olympic 12 with San Marco SuperCorsa Saddle is at 175 for comparison)

Its a super quick bike, responsive, but not twitchy, stand out of the saddle & the rear triangle feels stiff.
However….Tria bikes are interesting... it is going to take me some time to get used to being able to clearly see the Front Axle 15-20mm infront of the Handle Bars when I am on the Hoods!
