One thing I failed to notice the first time around was that there is no mention of the weekly Cycling Central show this summer.

Thanks for the heads up Timbo.

I chanced upon the Beijing racing today, which made me feel better about having to wrap Xmas presents instead of going riding!

I saw bits of the Cadell Evans show today. The more I see of him, the more I'm impressed. The man's a walking cliche ... in the most positive way possible. Talk about a great role model.

Few updates on SBS cycling coverage. Shamelessly stolen off a random tri site while googling for Paris-Roubaix coverage info:

Thursday 10 April 23:15 - 23:45* Conquering Roubaix (SBS Documentary)
Sunday 13 April 11:00 - 11:30* Conquering Roubaix (Replay)
Sunday 13 April 22:10 - 02:10 (AEST)* LIVE Paris-Roubaix, France
Sunday 20 April 11:00 - 12:00* UCI Track Cycling World Championships - Manchester, England
Sunday 4 May 11:00 - 12:00* BMX Special (Supercross World Cup & Australian Championships)
Sunday 4 May 12:00 - 12:30* La Fleche-Wallonne, Belgium
Sunday 11 May 12:30 - 13:00* Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Belgium
Sunday 11 May - Monday 2 June 07:15 - 07:25* Giro d'Italia, Italy (daily updates), 24/7 online at

And here is a trailer for Conquering Roubaix which I stole from fyxomatosis.

Best check local guides for exact times. If anyone knows where this info might have come from and where I can sign up to get it, please let us know.

ooh, thanks for the heads up. didn't even realise this was so soon, and on telly. disgraceful what sort of coverage cycling gets here, esp considering our own SO'G won this event, and pretty amazingly as well, last year.

hmm, ninemsn tvguide site is telling me Paris-Roubaix is on as stated 2210-0210, but it's highlights no live? i'm guessing it's a typo, since it's going for 4 hours...

Do you own a PVR (personal video recorder)? Some like the 1 I own (Topfield 5000MP) can use 3rd party software to search a 7 day electronic program guide and create timers on my machine.

It's a little cumbersome but when working properly I bring my laptop home once a week and connect it to the pvr and run the software. 2 minutes later all favourites I've created by filters are stored and I've just checked that all SBS shows have "CYCLING: ..." at the start of the title. I just need to set up a new favourite and I'll not miss anything .

I do have a PVR, but it's quite a simple one and can't use the EPG info to base recordings on like the Toppys. Interesting idea though, I might see if one of the online TV guides has some kind of keyword based favourites system so that you can get e-mail warnings when certain things show up.

What I was actually getting at was, both the original poster in this thread and the one where I found the updated info said they got an e-mail from SBS with the info. I don't know if they got a generic program guide and cut out the cycling related content with a simple search or if it was a cycling specific e-mail. But it seemed to contain multiple months worth of content. I'll have a hunt around and SBS site and see what I can find out.

You could still use the software I linked to! If not connected to a toppy it will still create a log file of created timers in a notepad document. Just manually set the timers on your pvr according to the log file.

Not perfect but it would still do the searching for you. The creator asks for a $15 shareware donation. It will also put a 7 day guide on your computer to check whenever you feel like it.

On Topic: Just caught Conquering Roubaix, nice little taster of what's to come this Sunday night. Gonna be hard work getting up early on Monday morning if I decide to stay up and watch.

Off-Topic: Looks like I might be in the market for a new PVR. My Digicrystal has been playing up all week and it's got no better after a HDD wipe and system reset. Seems the Toppy 5000 series are going for quite cheap if you can still find 'em on shelves. I'm not really fussed about HD recording at this stage and the 5000 are an extremely solid proven product. So a bit more research on the DTV forums and a ring around tomorrow to see if I can get a new toy for the weekend.

Thanks needsapush will be watching as often as I can.

I'm wondering if any of the Aussies will be in the frame for overall honours at the Giro. I'm sure it's not part of Cadel's prep with Le Tour just around the corner (I could be wrong).

you buggers don't know how lucky you are! we get the tour(live on sky) and thats it!although if there is a drug scandel or something like frank shleck falling over a ravine it makes the news.
have you got room over there for one more?
A universal dream of greatness is that
We push ourselves to the limit
Yet still be brilliant when the chips are down.
Sometimes
The struggle kills the dream.
