Fremantle to Baldvis - Sunday Febraury 3

Postby Aushiker » Wed Jan 30, 2008 10:36 am

G'day

I am planning to ride from Fremantle to the Freeway and then south as far as the bike path goes (Baldvis?) and return Sunday morning. Will leave Freo at 6:00 AM.

If anyone wants to come along you are welcome to come as long as you are behind me in the Fit Gits on Bikes ranking. Nah just kidding. Anyone is welcome to come along.

I have not been down the Freeway bike path in the last month but the path was due to be closed because of the new highway construction. I don't know when the closure is due but it may already be closed.

hmmm - I might well be interested in meeting you along the way (say at the Roe Highway intersection). I will have to check it out on mapmyride and see just how far it is!

City to Baldivis return is about 90km if that helps Stephen. It is a nice ride and great if you time the sea breeze :)

Just checked it out and it seems from my place in Parkwood to Baldivis would be about the same, maybe a little less. I have done part of that route in the past but never all of it - tempting....

It has been closed near the end of the freeway. There is another posting here on the topic. That said I did indicate that the ride would be as far as we can go ... it is just a social ride so I am not bothered by the closure.

Great Cambo. Lets make it 6:45 AM for a sharp 7:00 AM departure at Roe Highway intersection. That allows for me sleeping in, missing a turning or three etc getting there :).

For those interested I will head along South Street and pick up the Freeway at the South Street intersection.

Graeme are you interested in coming along? Anyone else?

I will be riding a grey Giant CRX 1 flatbar.

I have a couple of mates that, like me, are just getting into the cycling thing and will be keen to ride along I'm sure.

At the moment I'm interested, though the wife stared daggers at me last Sunday when I didn't get to the surf life saving club to help with the kids in the water .... So I'll say a tentative yes for now.

Which intersection are you talking about meeting at? Where the Roe Hwy itself meets the Kwinana bike path? (ie where we turned off the path that time you rode with me? I think it's the end of Hope Rd ....)

Cheers,
Graeme

It's now looking like only a slim chance of me being able to make it. Sorry guys ....

I'll say no right now, and if I get there you'll see me.

Cheers,
Graeme

You have to be kidding me, after all these weeks of dry the weather forecast for Sunday is:

Sunday Possible shower or thunderstorm. Min 23 Max 34

Of course what are the chances of it actually raining....

possible shower , if not fine , could be windy ,if not still , the sun will be up otherwise an unschedualed eclipse

weather boffins ... really .... they look out the window like the rest of us and hope for the best

G'day

7 at Roe Highway/Freeway intersection on the bike path. I should be there a bit earlier on my flatbar ....

Unless of course you want to ride from Freo :)
