Must be Coppi month - someone over at bikeforums.net has been looking for some info on their Coppi which is vaguely around the same period as Derny's: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vint ... cantu.html

Anyone interested in this old Super Elliott. I don’t know how old it is. 70’s or 80’s at a guess.

Sorry, I mis-typed in my previous post. You need to use the img tag rather than the url tag. So it should be:

Code: Select all

[img]https://i.postimg.cc/2jVMPBP7/D663298-E ... FD9246.jpg[/img]
which produces

Ok, it's not working. I joined Flickr and as an example am trying to post this image;
https://www.flickr.com/photos/193555105 ... ed-public/
When I put this same URL into img][/img it doesn't work (outside [] removed to show code).

Took me a bit to work it out. You have to place the [img] tag before and after your link

Not quite - you've copied the URL. Flicker makes it easy for you, but you need to follow a few steps - on the bottom right of the url, you will see a share button. Select "BBCode", copy that code and you get

Thanks for all the help! I was still having trouble but interestingly, it only worked when I copied that BB Code and inserted it into my post without adding the img bits at all!
Only thing I want to change is better colour match my bar tape to the seat. Otherwise just ride and enjoy it.

Got a chance to get all my pre-1991 stuff out for a quick clean and lap around the block. Five laps, one each.

Best I can tell for years:
1990 JP Routens (parts date)
1987 track bike
1986 Conceicao (parts date)
1983 Shogun 1000 (estimate)
1979 Fuji Finest Mk II (catalogue date)

Alright, retrogrouches, what have I bought now?

Bonus kudos to anyone who can find another Diamant example with these decals.

80s? CX race bike. No bottle bosses for speeeeed. 124mm rear but could be anything. Remnant 531 decals. Zeus fork crown, Prugnat? lugs. Campag rear dropouts. 10.7kg as is. Mafac Criterium Super Deluxe cantis, Modolo Sporting levers and Ofmega CX specific-cranks, ring and guards look original. Ring and chain guards Suntour VX RD and bar end might be later adds. Wheels have had modern rims, looks like a Kinlin XR series, built to 80s Pelissier hub rear with 5 speed freewheel. Front hub is hard to read through all the corrosion. 3T stem drilled for canti stop, 3T bars. Planned clean up and maybe a 6x2 depending on what wheels I can sort.

^ Oh yeah baby. I assume that's the Belgian Diamant?

This one has a few similarities to yours, but is probably a bit earlier: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vint ... heavy.html

Pretty sure its the Belgian marque. I hadn't come across that one in my search for some reason. Very similar lugs, tubing decal, ST decals and fork crown. Cheers.

Looks great - I'm amazed that fluted seat post came out!

No chainstay bridge as was the fashion at the time. (Said in best Grandpa Simpson voice.)

Looks very deliberate sans shifter bosses and bottle mounts. The cable housing stops must have been fairly cutting edge at the time...I would have thought.

You and me both. But there was enough grease in there to lubricate a combine harvester. I'll give it a better look on Sunday or Monday next week, will have to wait a little while.

Marvelous what an hour of light polish, Lanox and a rag will do:

VX RD and bar end, chain and chainring are getting to the end of their useful life. I do have a set of 10x2 SRAM TT shifters that I might adapt to friction bar ends for a 2 x whatever setup. But that's for a little while from now.
