Let me guess, as well as "reinforced frames and rims, as well as heavy duty tyres and accessories", they also feature "all-alloy components"?
Just a guess.
Hawk brand eh - maybe they bought them on ebay?

I notice there are no mud / rain guards so for wet weather not really appropriate for riding.
Do they have flashing lights? What about night riding - do they have sufficient lighting.
I notice there are no 'uncool' reflectors on the spokes.
And - would a car stop if a police man on a bike asked them to pull over - bike mounted video recorder could work well.
Cheers

I've never seen them at night or in the wet.AUbicycles wrote:Bike and rider is highly visible - with the fluro vest.

Remember that the police and pollies work under a different laws in NSW than the general populace... at least that is how it seems.

According to their site, Hillbrick doesn't even have MTB frames. I wouldn't be surprised if they sourced the frames from Giant and did the paint and build job according to government specifications. The frame looked similar to some of those lower end Giant MTB bikes.MJF wrote:They are made by Hillbrick.

The police in Melbourne have had bike squads for over 10 years! I've heard from a police officer that in the CBD they often stop drivers - for busting reds, using mobile phones, illegal u-turns etc. Apparently the 'stunned mullet' expressions on drivers faces at being pulled up by a cop on a bike is priceless.AUbicycles wrote:And - would a car stop if a police man on a bike asked them to pull over - bike mounted video recorder could work well.

And thats how it should be.simonn wrote:...the police...work under a different laws in NSW than the general populace... at least that is how it seems
Otherwise you'd get complaints like "my fiance had her bag stolen and the bike police didnt turn up for four whole minutes cause they stopped for a red light! Outrageous!"
</stupid example but I feel I've made my point>
They do look like modified Giant's. Now the police run Commodores AND Toyotas!

OK, you're crazy.winona_rider wrote: um...call me crazy but i think the law should apply to everyone - including cops.
There's a time, a place, and a good reason for bending and breaking rules. I'm generalising, but so are others. I'll say no more on the police issue.

So police should wait for red lights too?
Don't think so.

When not responding to an emergency or otherwise actively engaged in enforcing they law - absolutely!Caelum wrote:winona_rider wrote:um...call me crazy but i think the law should apply to everyone - including cops.familyguy wrote: And thats how it should be.

We have laws for reasons. And if the police are allowed to break any laws they like any time they like chaos would ensue: Police car causes accident because it's running a red light; police speed dangerously; police drive on the wrong side of the road... and do you really think they could have any chance of enforcing compliance from anyone if they ignored the very same rules in their every day life?
Don't think so.
