With a budget of $10,000 to $18,000 I'd just upgrade the whole bike.

You want expensive wheelset. Why not try this or get it gold plated?

ID please? What ID? My seat tube ID is 27.2mm or 31.6mm depending on what bikes I ride today.thanks...

Wow, that's a generous budget for a set of wheels..my suggestions but you will still have a lot of change leftover:

You will definitely notice the difference when you have a set of light wheel rims on the bike especially when you accelerate...

its nice everyone took the piss out of you anyway :P

the question is, what kind of rider are you? how long u been riding? what kind of riding do you do? how much u weigh? what u want, speed or light weight for hills? do you care what they look like? do you like to show off with fancy gear?

how long is a piece of carbon! ;)

you've got the bike i want (and will probably get soon), and considering its more of an endurance frame, it can take wider rims and tyres (up to 28 i believe). personally i'd rather go for comfort and grip, and with wider tyres its more appropriate to go wider rims. alloy is better for braking (especially if you ride the brakes) and longevity so there's that. my recommendation is DING! exactly what i'm going to be doing soon (except i'll build them myself)

pacenti sl23 rims
good hubs (white industries for eg.)
sapim cx ray aero spokes +nipples, washers etc.]

hell there's a package deal on a site i know. that's about 1k. get an experienced wheelbuilder to do it and DING! killer wheels (at least what i want anyway ;P)

or campy always do good wheels. shamal mille look nice but aren't wide rims. but are about 1.3k top of the range. alloy again.

carbon? getting light bicycle to build you up a set is very cost effective (i have some of their rims for a build). they have good rep for china carbon.
