Thanks for the replies people, it is making me think.
So in an area that is hilly and it's fair share of rain ( Malaysia) Is braking about the same as especially in wet.
Carbon wheels with rim brakes are shocking in the rain, I’ve been caught with no effective brakes in those conditions - luckily I was on a back road and able to coast uphill to a roundabout then proceed very cautiously.

If you are in a hilly area then I don’t see the point of deep wheels. Depends on what you deem hilly. If it’s 25km uphill at 5-6% then not worth the bother and you may go better training more on the hills.

Where I go for hills, it’s all low profile wheels from everyone - even the very fast riders.

Wet weather aint good for any rim braked wheel;

I took that photo after a long wet commute a few years back.

Agree carbon rims aint ideal for long steep descents.
I have less concern about braking effectiveness and more about rim heat/damage if you drag the brakes.
Disc is way better.
I have done the alpine classic on rim braked Zipp 404s without a prob though. Carved the descents like my old motorcycle hoon days.
Just braked hard and late without dragging the brakes. Took a fair bit off the zipp pads though.

Completed my Colnago C60 build this week.

Usually takes me months if not years to truly love (or not) a bike. In this case I adored it from the moment I popped the frame on the stand. EPS a complete and utter pain to route through this frame but all is forgiven as it's the most exciting bike to ride I've ever had the privilege to turn a pedal in anger. Wicked ride, makes me feel fast and fit and alive and wanting more which is great news for me as I was in trouble health wise 2 years ago.

Very nice C60! 8) The C64 was the closest I ever got to an Italian made bike - was nearly going to have a frozen blue one.

I have my Canyon back with new Shimano FC-09 crankset.

So comfortable compared to the S5.

Couldn't resist giving the MTB world a go based on the (relative) bargains around for lightly used bikes. I'll get onto figuring out the setup regimes over the weekend. Already managed to snag a possible seat on a Thredbo trip in a few weeks.

Lifted the seat about 40mm, sorted the sag for 20-25% so added a little air front and back, swapped front tube to a non-holed one. Will look into tubeless, but I don't have a high volume pump or compressor here. Now to find an excuse to get onto a trail soon.

It would prevent the odd inadvertent dropper post activation instead of front upshift. Once it's had a few runs I might look at a 1x 32-34T.

Keep the FD so you have a properly useful gear range! 1x only got foisted onto the market because a certain American components manufacturer couldn't make their front shifting work, and the sheeple got sucked in by the mucketing hype!

I love my 3x10, best MTB drivetrain ever!
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Wwaaaay down on the list of mods or projects, that's for sure. My other MTB was a GT Zaskar Elite with a 2x10 SRAM X7/X9 setup that got used on both rings plenty. I'm a 2x die hard in most forms, after all.
