Tri Cycling Routes Brisbane
Postby ElectricCelt » Mon Oct 17, 2016 8:33 am
I have recently moved to Brisbane (Kangaroo Pt) and was wanting some recommendations for good cycling routes for triathlon training + 50km. I have found plenty of good routes for a road bike, but not any that allow me to spend lots of time on my aerobars

Welcome to BrisVegas mate!
I found a few roads out Mackenzie/Burbank way which could be pretty well suited for what you want. Look more like country roads, long, single lane, no traffic lights etc. Did come across a few roundabouts but not every two seconds.

Always plenty of time trial bikes out at Pinkenba and around the back of the airport along Myrtletown Road and Lomandra Drive.
A few weeks ago one of the clubs was running a TT out there. I can't remember if it was the Kangaroo Point club or University of Queensland.
Just ride across the Storey Bridge, turn right at Wickham Street through Fortitude Valley to Breakfast Creek then straight ahead following the river until you reach Luggage Point.
Then backtrack to Lomandra Drive and ride down took the DFO.
You can even ride out past the terminals to the observation area at the far end of the runway.
All very flat and smooth riding and plenty of scope took get your head down.
I think I have map somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it out.

A number of the roads out past Ipswich toward Toowoomba are popular too. Avoiding the range and the highways, there are lots of flat tracks.
